Alan Sideen taught himself how to draw, learning from books.
From portrait, caricature to painting.
How Al Started
Alan started off as drawing portraits then moved onto drawing caricatures for businesses and schools. Today, Alan is asked to paint windows for businesses of all industries.
Alan started his art business in the downtown centre of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Later, one of the largest art store retailers of Western Canada "Artists Emporium" asked Alan to hold and teach classes to art enthusiasts of various ages and grades.
Al Sideens Learn to Draw Books are available for people of all ages and grade groups, and have proven to be an effective way for art enthusiasts to learn how to draw.
Al Sideen also works as a portrait and caricature artist. He currently offers his teaching services to art schools, art clubs and even individual artists. Always learning and sharpening his saw, Alan is now painting windows for retailers.
When Al added some basic drawing concepts to his teaching format, he soon discovered something. Students began developing their confidence and many went on to various art mediums without second-guessing themselves.
Window painting is designed with the business in mind. McMunn and Yates located at Grant Avenue and Pembina Highway windows needed some TLC. To bring to the publics attention, the store manager mentioned to me that the business originated out of Dauphin, Manitoba in 1971. Residential window paintings are a delight as the sun light brings to life the Christmas tree and Poinsettia flower.
